Meadow Bridge, WVa — The Summers County Bobcats left Independence a week ago wet, muddy, and with a loss to a strong Class AA team. The complete opposite happened last night as they roared back to the win column over nearby rival Meadow Bridge 53-0.
The Bobcats, now (5-2), regained their confidence at the Wildcats expense on Friday Night. Nate Grimmett threw for 243 yards and two touchdowns and the Bobcats never looked back as Grimmett put on yet another passing display.
Meadow Bridge (1-7) is having a down year by their standards and are a big discussion about losing their school to consolidation in Fayette County, so it’s a rough patch, to say the least, for the Wildcats.
Marcus McGuire and Jacob McBride each had two touchdowns for the Bobcats in the win. The Bobcats scored through the air, the ground, and even blocked a punt for a touchdown on this night.
Nevertheless, this was a big and good win for Summers County (5-2), and ranked No. 12 in Class A as they finish 2016 with three straight home games at Garten Stadium in Hinton.
