Summers County Finishes Regular Season 8-2

By James Cook

The Summers County Bobcats finished the 2016 regular season with a huge win over the Mount View Golden Knights 46-8 on senior night in Hinton. The Bobcats needed this win for any hopes of hosting a Class A playoff game next week, whether that happens or not still remains, but this was a big win regardless.summerscountyfootballhelmet

Nathan Grimmett didn’t disappoint on senior night as he threw for four touchdowns and ran for another versus the Golden Knights, as they the Bobcats jumped out to a quick 14-0 start and never looked back. Dacota Thomas caught two touchdown passesĀ  on the night, as C.J. Shrewsbury and Tucker Lilly also grabbed catches for scores.

Mount View finishes 2016 (5-5) and will miss the playoffs, but the Golden Knights are miles ahead from where they once were and even better days are ahead in Welch. The Bobcats will most likely not get a home playoff game possibly finishing 9th or 10th in final polls, but can still do some damage in the Class A playoffs even though it may be away from Garten Stadium.
