The Department of Natural Resources has announced that seven state parks, including Pipestem State Park here in Summers County, will begin charging a day use fee for those visiting the park. A fee of $2 per car will begin Memorial Day Weekend. Users may also opt for a $12 pass which will grant year long access to all state parks.
Presently, the fees are part of a pilot program, but it is expected that the fees will eventually be charged in the remaining 38 state parks in West Virginia. The nearby state parks of Babcock and Little Beaver will also be charging this new user fee.
