Bobcats Had A Busy Week Of Baseball

The Summers County Bobcats stayed busy this week on the diamond as they won 2 of 3 games before falling to Greater Beckley Christian in the sectional final.

jmbaseballSummers County first hammered Greenbrier West 11-1.  Kanyon Brogan and Chase Adkins each hit a home run off Cavaliers’ pitching in the win. Sam Wykle was 3 for 4 and also had three RBI’s.

The win over Greenbrier West and a big win over Montcalm of 10-0 propelled the Bobcats into the sectional final with Greater Beckley Christian where they fell 11-1 on Thursday evening, but still a job well done by the Bobcats in 2017.

Bobcats Fall to Greater Beckley in Extra Innings

The Summers County Bobcats come out on the short end of a high school baseball thriller with Greater Beckley Christian.scbaseball

The Bobcats and Crusaders battled for nearly eight innings of scoreless baseball before in the the bottom of the eighth a Crusader launched a Bobcats’ pitch over the the fence for  two run walk off homer for Greater Beckley and sends the Crusaders on to further Class A postseason action.

Bobcats Fall to Tigers

The Summers County Bobcats fall to the Shady Spring Tigers 6-4 as the Bobcats fought back from a 5-0 deficit to make it a game versus the Tigers.

scbaseballChase Adkins went 3 for 4 on the evening and collected two RBI’s as Sam Wykle and Logan Jones combined for four hits for the Bobcats in the near comeback that fell just short.

The Bobcats did tally ten hits in the game.

Bobcats Fall to Mavericks

The James Monroe Mavericks top the Summers County Bobcats 7-2 on Tuesday evening as Grant Mohler of James Monroe pitched a two hit and complete game gem for the Mavericks holding the Bobcats’ bats at bay.jmbaseball

Will Whittaker  was 1 for 3 on the evening and was the starting pitcher for Summers County. The Bobcats could not get the bats going versus Mohler who continued his good pitching in 2017. The only other hit on the evening for the Bobcats was by C.J. Shrewsbury.

Bobcats Fall to Duo of Virginia Teams

The Summers County Bobcats drop a couple of games this week playing in the Coppinger Tournament, losing both to schools from neighboring Virginia.

286fe-scGraham,Va. (Bluefield,Va.) defeated the Bobcats 6-4 earlier in the week as the Bobcats played well and nearly upset the G-Men at Bowen Field which is also the home of the Bluefield Blue Jays of the Appalachian League.

The Bobcats again where in the game till the end, but fell to Tazewell,Va. 9-7 on Wednesday evening as they are still competing in the Coppinger Tournament.

Bobcats Sweep Renegades

The Summers County Bobcats swept  the Westside Renegades winning Game One 10-0 and Game Two 14-0 in dominating fashion. Ashton Bennett threw a one hitter in the second game and Will Whittaker and Sam Wykle both went 3 for 4 and combined for seven RBI’s.sc

In Game One of the day the Bobcats’ pitcher Chase Adkins only allowed two hits in the 10-0 shutout win.  C.J.Shrewsbury was 4 for 4 from the plate in the game.

Summers County improved to (8-8) overall.

Liberty Doubles Up Bobcats

The Summers County Bobcats fall 8-4 to the Liberty Raiders on Monday evening as Summers County goes to (6-6) overall on the season.

summerscountybobcatsWill Whittaker went 2 for 4 on the evening with three RBI’s versus the Raiders. The Raiders will be one of the toughest opponents the Bobcats will see all season long, so the 8-4 result, despite the loss, is a nice showing by Summers County.

This week looks to be excellent baseball and softball weather, so both the Bobcats and Lady Bobcats should be hitting the diamond all week long.
